THE
THEMES OF LIEBFRAUENBERG
1. A CHURCH SITE:
Liebfrauenberg is a conference and training centre for Protestant
Churches in Alsace and Moselle. It serves the Church in its
approach to society which has both broad secularisation and
a need for religious pointers.
2. A PLACE FOR LISTENING AND DISCUSSION:
At Liebfrauenberg, the global approach takes the form of a
constant dialogue, where each partner can express his or her
opinions, experiences and convictions.
3. A PLACE OF TOLERANCE AND RESPECT
:
In principle, no-one is excluded from the dialogue. It works
on the premise that there are no barriers between social,
economic, cultural and political categories. According to
the Epistle of Saint Paul to the Galatians, chapter 3, verse
28: "There is thus no difference between Jews and non-Jews,
slaves and free men, men and women, you are all one in Jesus
Christ."
4. A PLACE OF EXPRESSION:
In our society, some people are silent, others, although they
can speak, sometimes find it difficult to express themselves.
At Liebfrauenberg, confidence, sharing and taking on responsibility
help lead the silent to speak.
5. A PLACE OF CONFRONTATION (or
confrontation in general):
Liebfrauenberg's main function is to propose a means of analysis.
With reference to the Prayer Book, confrontation with social,
economic, political and religious problems is both intellectual
as well as in a context of sharing real life and experiences.
6. RIGHT TO EXPERIMENTATION AND
TRIAL AND ERROR:
Removing barriers to meet the ideas of others who are still
unknown involves experimentation and trial and error. Liebfrauenberg
claims the liberty to do this.
7. A PLACE OF RECONCILIATION:
Through dialogue, Liebfrauenberg acts as a gateway and helps
to promote justice, peace and works to conserve creation.
It thereby takes part in Christ's ministry of reconciliation.
